In September 2021, the leading developer of dental digital equipment Shining 3D announced a new model of the Aoralscan 3 intraoral scanner. The manufacturer continues the Aoralscan series as the best, according to the creators, scanner for dentistry.
Shining 3D regularly conducts its research and optimizes its dental equipment. The new Aoralscan 3 delivers fast and accurate patient data, and its intelligent data processing capabilities make scanning easy for novices and professionals alike.
Aoralscan 3 can be used for a wide variety of clinical indications. The main application of the 3D scanner is orthodontic treatment, but the equipment can also facilitate diagnosis and determine the treatment plan for dental restoration and surgical interventions.
Functions of Aoralscan 3:
- Texture scan
- The new model can scan in color. This allows to determine the condition of the teeth, see the work of other specialists and more accurately plan the treatment.
Ease of operation
Aoralscan 3 is operated with just one button. The manufacturer has reduced the need for computer contacts, so scanning has become as safe and efficient as possible.
The control PC and the scanner itself can be placed on a special cart. The trolley combines a compact storage space for a 3D scanner and a comfortable workplace where everything is at hand.
Optimized algorithms and imaging engines have improved scanning accuracy by 30% compared to other models. AI scanning maximizes scanning efficiency – the system automatically detects unwanted areas (soft tissue), which reduces the time for a complete scan.
- The Aoralscan 3 weighs only 240 g for fatigue-free working.
- The removable tip system is reduced in size for more comfortable patient handling.
- 2 autoclavable tip sizes allow for oral scans of small and adult patients.
Shining 3D is a pioneer in dental hardware and software development. The manufacturer offers its software with wide functionality, which can also export data to Exocad.
Before starting the scan, users need to install the software and enter a license key. To work, you need a PC to which the scanner will be connected.
Scanner calibration is not required, so the user can start scanning immediately.
Controlling the scanner
Shining 3D has tried to make the scanning process as simple as possible. Aoralscan 3 is controlled by just one button, and all manipulations can be performed without constant access to a PC. For convenience, there is a real-time tracking function that helps you see unscanned areas.
Aoralscan 3 has a fairly large scanning area of 16x12x22 mm with an attachment for adult patients and 12x9x22 mm with an attachment for small patients.
The large scanning depth allows the use of the equipment in the treatment of periodontitis, as it captures the gum area and allows you to assess the depth of tissue damage.
Scanning tips are 15% thinner and longer than the predecessor model, and also feature automatic anti-fogging for superior scanning results. Replaceable tips can be autoclaved up to 100 cycles.
The speed of the Aoralscan 3 has also increased. A full scan of one jaw takes only 25 seconds, and a full arch takes 1 minute.
Without a doubt, the new Aoralscan 3 is a handy digital dentistry tool. An easy-to-use 3D scanner with intelligent functions allows getting high-quality results in a short time.
